I received the first issue of Make Magazine about a week ago. It didn’t disappoint.
The design and layout style of Make is boxy (in a good way), with concise and to-the-point articles. The concept of book/magazine hybrid (mook) is also very unique and attractive.
Packed with DIY (do it yourself) projects, Make seems to be a good thing to have, for those brief moments when I want to look at something other than my computer screen.
There’s nothing in there that one wouldn’t be able to get either by going to the library (yes, a real one with books) or searching the internet. However, it’s the fact that the projects are presented in a detailed, step by step manner that makes the magazine interesting. Also, the magazine provides ideas on new projects, things you always wanted to do, but somehow, dismissed and forgot about because of perceived complexity.
